Anaura Bay is singled out as the most stunning of the East Coast beaches with pristine golden sandy beaches and a backdrop of extensive native bush. The area is steeped in history – descendants of the famous maori chief Hauiti lived in the area in the 17th Century. The rare painted meeting house on the Anaura Marae is named Hinetamatea after one of Hauiti's family.

A plaque marks the second New Zealand landfall of Captain Cook –when the Endeavour berthed in Anaura Bay the local Maori welcomed Cook and his men warmly. Cook recorded between two and three thousand people living in the district.

Rangimarie covers 3 hectares, sweeps down to the safe golden sandy beach and is bordered on one side by a native bush.

All rooms have private decks with sensational views of Anaura Bay and the spectacular sunrises –a perfect retreat.

Bedrooms are romantically styled and well suited for special occasions –honeymoons and other celebrations.

Guests enjoy relaxing in time-out spots such as the secluded Balinese-style sleeping platform. For the more energetic, beach and bush walks are on the agenda. The Anaura Bay Scenic Reserve covers an area of 225 hectares of steep bush and scrub covered ridges. It provides a magnificent view of the bay. The reserve is a mixed broad-leaved forest, notable being the large puriri trees. There is also a wealth of native bird life to be seen and heard in the reserve.

Complimentary Wi-Fi available.
Cellphone coverage only for Wi-Fi calling enabled phones.

For health and safety reasons, Rangimarie is a strictly non-smoking/non-vaping property
